“We
are part of an enormous hospital system through our chaplains
in the Veteran's Administration. There are some 20 million
veterans today and of that number over four million are patients
in the 172 medical centers maintained by the V.A. There are
many more clinics and out-patient facilities serving our veterans
as well. It is particularly important to note, given the size
of this enterprise, that when 19 "Best Practice Awards" were
conveyed this year that three of the recipients were Episcopalians...

“A quick trip to Washington, DC, yielded
a rich harvest of experience. This was the occasion for the
Annual Convocation of first line supervisors in Veteran's
Administration Hospitals. This year 140 persons attended the
four-day conference at an "inside the beltway" hotel. Episcopalians
distinguished themselves with two recognitions...”
